Painters in Hampton for
weatherboards, interwar brick & renovated family homes.
Interiors, exteriors and finishes that stand close inspection.
Mousi paints Hampton the way a suburb this close to the water needs to be painted — weatherboards, interwar brick, render and renovated family homes prepared for salt air and sun — owner-managed, preparation-led, and insured for Public Liability and WorkCover.
Beach-street timber,
interwar brick — and salt air
working on both.
Hampton grew in two main waves and both are still standing: Edwardian and early timber homes in the streets running back from the beach, and a broad belt of interwar brick and Californian bungalows filled in around Hampton Street between the wars — now threaded with renovations, extensions and new family homes from the station out towards Bluff Road. Salt air does not stop at Beach Road. It works on weatherboard laps, sash windows, fascias, gutters and interwar brick lintels streets inland, and the seaward elevations of a house often need twice the preparation of the sheltered ones. So we treat every Hampton exterior as a coastal job: salt washed off before sanding, failed film cut back to sound material, bare timber and metal primed the same day, and systems specified for exposure — with renovated homes prepped so new plaster and cladding and hundred-year-old timber finish as one.
Four services,
one standard of
preparation.
Four services, chosen for what Hampton’s homes actually need near the bay. Each runs on one discipline: surfaces checked before painting, preparation written into the scope, and systems specified to the substrate and its exposure — never defaulted.
Every card links through to its full Melbourne service page.
Formal rooms, hallways, joinery and cabinetry in furnished, lived-in homes — often alongside designers, always staged so the house keeps working around the crew. Low-VOC systems in occupied spaces.
Interior Painting Melbourne →Coastal exteriors prepared for the conditions: salt residue washed off before sanding, weatherboard laps and split boards repaired, failed film taken back further than an inland job would need, and systems specified for exposure off the bay.
Exterior Painting Melbourne →Venetian plaster, limewash and polished plaster for design-led interiors, with colour consultation brushed out on your actual walls before anything is committed.
Decorative Finishes →Individual apartment interiors, and common property quoted and scheduled directly with owners corporations and property managers — access, notices and work hours agreed before the program starts.
Residential Painting →Heritage in Hampton,
in plain terms.
Pockets of Hampton’s Edwardian timber streets and interwar estates sit within Heritage Overlays under the Bayside Planning Scheme. Bayside’s guidance is that repainting an already-painted surface generally does not need a permit, though some properties carry external paint controls and painting previously unpainted brick or masonry may require one — so we ask about overlays at the walk-through and always advise confirming your specific property’s position with council before an exterior scheme is settled. The fabric itself demands care either way: lead-era coatings, original sash windows, turned verandah timber and face brick that a rushed repaint damages. Our heritage practice treats that preparation as a discipline of its own.
Heritage Painting MelbourneEvery decision reaches you
in writing.
Whether it’s one living room or a full weatherboard exterior a street back from the beach, every project moves through the same sequence — including a salt wash-down before any sanding on coastal work — and every decision in it reaches you in writing before work begins.
Request Your Hampton QuoteA senior Mousi team member walks the property with you, checks the surfaces and discusses the brief in full. Colour consultation is included.
A fully itemised proposal, surface by surface — repairs, preparation, systems, colours and timeline.
Floors, furniture, gardens and boundaries protected; interior work staged room by room and exteriors elevation by elevation so the home stays livable throughout. Multi-storey homes and steep blocks are assessed for access at the walk-through, with scaffolding planned into the scope before pricing.
Surfaces washed, sanded, repaired and primed — the stage that decides how the finish holds.
The specified system built up in the coats it calls for — sprayed where it should be, brushed where it must be — with the site left tidy and safe at the end of every day.
The finished work checked against the written scope with you, and every colour and product recorded — retained as a Property Passport™ on qualifying projects — for precise future matching.

Painting in Hampton,
answered directly.
Straight answers to what Hampton owners raise at the walk-through. Anything else, ask us directly.
Request Your Hampton QuoteFor most repaints, no. Some of Hampton’s older streets sit within Heritage Overlays under the Bayside Planning Scheme, and council’s guidance is that repainting an already-painted surface generally does not need a permit, though a small number of properties carry external paint controls. Painting previously unpainted brick or masonry is a different matter. We raise it at the walk-through and always advise confirming your property’s position with Bayside before an exterior scheme is locked in.
Salt carries well past Beach Road, so exposure shapes the whole job. We wash salt residue off every elevation before sanding, cut failed film back to sound material rather than skimming over it, prime bare timber and metal the same day they are exposed, and specify exterior systems rated for coastal conditions instead of defaulting to a single product. The seaward and windward elevations usually need the most preparation, and the scope says so surface by surface.
Yes, and much of Hampton’s older timber housing is exactly that. Decades of coats hide split boards, failed putty and movement at the laps, so we assess board by board: loose and flaking film is stripped back, damaged boards are repaired or flagged for replacement before painting, edges and end grain are sealed, and the finish is built up in full coats. It is slower than spraying over the top, which is why it lasts.
Often. A lot of our Hampton work is renovation-driven, tying new plaster and cladding into original interwar brick or timber fabric. New surfaces and old ones take paint differently, so we prepare and prime each to its own substrate and sequence the work with your builder or the other trades so painting lands at the right point in the program, not in their way.
A written, itemised proposal prepared after a senior walk-through: the repairs, the preparation for each surface, the specified primer, undercoat and finish systems, colours and a program. Nothing is priced from the footpath. You approve exactly what will happen before it happens, and the same document is what the finished work is checked against.

Mac and his team have done a fantastic job with all exteriors of our house, including weather boards, fascias, eaves, window frames, and render walls. They never compromised high quality standards for any reasons, and they paid attention to every single detail. Meanwhile, they were always professional, well planned, higly communicative, and friendly to every family member, including our dog, Gizmo. Strongly recommended for any painting jobs.
