    Residential Painters Toorak

    Grand homes, layered eras
    — and preparation
    to match.

Toorak’s housing is layered in a way few Melbourne suburbs can match: Victorian terraces and the surviving fabric of the mansion era, interwar homes by architects of the calibre of Marcus Martin, postwar modernist houses and a steady run of contemporary rebuilds — with close to half the suburb’s homes flats or apartments (2021 Census). There is no standard job here. A smooth-stuccoed terrace, a 1930s painted render with clinker accents and a crisp new build all age differently, and each calls for different preparation. What stays constant is the standard the suburb holds you to: quiet, organised crews, real protection for gardens and interiors, and a finish that stands up to close inspection in strong natural light.

    What we paint in Toorak

    Four services,
    one standard of
    preparation.

Four services, chosen for what Toorak’s homes actually need. Each runs on one discipline: surfaces checked before painting, preparation written into the scope, and systems specified to the substrate — never defaulted.

Every card links through to its full Melbourne service page.

    Interior Painting

Formal rooms, hallways, joinery and cabinetry in furnished, lived-in homes — often alongside designers, always staged so the house keeps working around the crew. Low-VOC systems in occupied spaces.

    Interior Painting Melbourne →
    Exterior Painting

Painted render and masonry with timber and iron detail, prepared patiently: hairline cracks raked and filled, chalked surfaces washed and sanded back, small areas taken to sound render where the old system has failed.

    Exterior Painting Melbourne →
    Colour & Decorative Finishes

Venetian plaster, limewash and polished plaster for design-led interiors, with colour consultation brushed out on your actual walls before anything is committed.

    Decorative Finishes →
    Apartment, Townhouse & Strata

Individual apartment interiors, and common property quoted and scheduled directly with owners corporations and property managers — access, notices and work hours agreed before the program starts.

    Period Homes in Toorak

    Heritage overlays in Toorak,
    in plain terms.

Parts of Toorak sit within heritage overlays, from Victorian terrace groups on Williams Road to the interwar precinct around Lansell Road. The City of Stonnington’s guidance is that a planning permit is generally not required to repaint an already-painted surface, unless your property’s overlay schedule entry specifies paint controls; painting a previously unpainted surface, such as face brick, does require one. We ask about overlays at the walk-through, keep proposed schemes consistent with the era where the overlay calls for it, and recommend confirming your schedule entry with council before an exterior scheme is committed.

    How a Toorak Project Runs

    Every decision reaches you
    in writing.

Whether it’s a single formal room or a full render exterior over three levels, every project moves through the same sequence — and every decision in it reaches you in writing before work begins.

    01
    On-Site Consultation

A senior Mousi team member walks the property with you, checks the surfaces and discusses the brief in full. Colour consultation is included.

    02
    Written Scope

A fully itemised proposal, surface by surface — repairs, preparation, systems, colours and timeline.

    03
    Protection & Staging

Floors, furniture, gardens and boundaries protected; interior work staged room by room and exteriors elevation by elevation so the home stays livable throughout. Multi-storey homes and steep blocks are assessed for access at the walk-through, with scaffolding planned into the scope before pricing.

    04
    Preparation

Surfaces washed, sanded, repaired and primed — the stage that decides how the finish holds.

    05
    Application

The specified system built up in the coats it calls for — sprayed where it should be, brushed where it must be — with the site left tidy and safe at the end of every day.

    06
    Final Review & Records

The finished work checked against the written scope with you, and every colour and product recorded — retained as a Property Passport™ on qualifying projects — for precise future matching.

    Project Leadership

    One name answers
    for the finish.

Mac Mousivand — Founder and Project Consultant. Certificate III in Painting and Decorating; working in Melbourne’s painting industry since 2006. Mac walks the property, writes the scope and stays the single point of contact from consultation to the final review — on this project, accountability has a name.

Usually not for like-for-like repainting. The City of Stonnington’s guidance is that a planning permit is generally not required to repaint an already-painted surface, unless your property’s heritage overlay schedule entry specifies paint controls. Painting a previously unpainted surface, such as face brick or unrendered masonry, does require a permit. Parts of Toorak are covered by overlays, so we ask early and suggest confirming your schedule entry with council.

Both. For an era-appropriate scheme we work from the home’s existing palette and period conventions rather than a generic chart, and test patches on the actual surfaces before committing. If you want a contemporary scheme on a period home, we will tell you plainly what will and won’t sit well on the architecture. A complimentary colour consultation is included with every accepted project.

Yes. Around half the suburb’s homes are flats or apartments, and we quote them the way we quote houses: a walkthrough, then an itemised proposal. For common property and exteriors we coordinate directly with owners corporations and property managers on access, notices and scheduling.

Scaffold and ladder positions are planned around plantings before work starts, garden beds and paving near the walls are covered, and hedges close to the house are shielded rather than pushed through. Wash-down and sanding residue is contained rather than hosed into beds. If something cannot be protected in place, we tell you before work begins, not after.

Preparation drives the program more than size does. A sound render exterior repaints faster than a smaller home with chalking render and neglected timber. Access adds time on two- and three-storey homes where scaffolding is involved, and exterior stages need weather windows. Your proposal sets out a program for your home specifically, written after the walk-through rather than guessed over the phone.

Mac and his team have done a fantastic job with all exteriors of our house, including weather boards, fascias, eaves, window frames, and render walls. They never compromised high quality standards for any reasons, and they paid attention to every single detail. Meanwhile, they were always professional, well planned, higly communicative, and friendly to every family member, including our dog, Gizmo. Strongly recommended for any painting jobs.
